David Wright

About

I’m David Wright, founder of Coder Studios. I’ve been building websites and web applications since finishing university in 2004, and I’ve spent more than a decade building web applications and digital products primarily with PHP and Laravel.

Before starting Coder Studios in 2013, I led a technical development team at a digital agency in London. Since then I’ve built and supported applications for charities, agencies and businesses, and built products of my own. I live in Surrey and work in the Richmond and London areas.

My work spans software development, product architecture, APIs, payments, performance and technical SEO. I’m most useful where those overlap: a product that needs to take payments, integrate with other systems, perform well and be found in search.

Building and running my own products has shaped how I work for clients. When you are the one answering the support email, paying for the servers and fixing the failed payment on a Sunday, you design differently. I plan for upgrades, monitoring, tests and the second year of an application, not just its launch.

• DoRevision — a free, interactive GCSE revision platform, which I co-founded and build.

Consulting

I work directly with organisations that need:

• technical direction for a product or development team;
• Laravel and PHP architecture;
• a review of an existing codebase, with clear, prioritised recommendations;
• technical SEO that goes as far as the code;
• product development, from first version to ongoing iteration;
• application modernisation.
