Technical SEO

Technical SEO for websites and applications where the code, architecture and search performance are inseparable.

Who this is for

Businesses whose website or application is built on Laravel or PHP and whose search performance depends on how it’s built: SaaS marketing sites, content platforms, directories, e-commerce and any site with large numbers of generated pages.

Most technical SEO problems are development problems. An audit might say “duplicate content” or “poor Core Web Vitals”; the fix is in routing, templates, queries and caching. We work on both sides of that line.

What we look at

  • Crawlability and indexing — robots rules, status codes, noindex, orphan pages and crawl waste.
  • Information architecture and internal linking — how pages relate, how authority flows and whether important pages are reachable.
  • Canonicalisation and duplicate content — trailing slashes, query strings, pagination, filtered and sorted listings.
  • Redirects — migrations, retired URLs, redirect chains and preserving link equity.
  • Structured data — JSON-LD that accurately describes organisations, people, articles, services and products.
  • Performance and Core Web Vitals — server response time, render-blocking assets, images, fonts and layout shift.
  • JavaScript rendering — making sure content doesn’t depend on client-side rendering to be seen.
  • Sitemaps — generated from the application’s real data, with accurate modification dates.
  • Metadata — unique, meaningful titles and descriptions at scale, not boilerplate.
  • Faceted navigation — keeping filter combinations from generating millions of thin URLs.
  • Internationalisation — hreflang and localised URLs where a site serves several languages or regions.

Laravel and PHP-specific issues

Some problems come up again and again in Laravel and PHP applications:

  • the same page available with and without a trailing slash, or on several routes;
  • search, filter and pagination parameters producing endless indexable URLs;
  • missing or incorrect status codes — “not found” pages that return 200, or errors that return 500 to crawlers;
  • sitemaps with every URL stamped with today’s date, which teaches search engines to ignore the date;
  • slow database queries in templates that push server response times up;
  • staging sites accidentally left open to indexing.

Relevant experience

We apply this to our own products. DoRevision generates thousands of pages from a structured curriculum model, with dynamic sitemaps and schema.org markup for its learning content. PaidProper’s marketing site includes feature pages, trade-specific landing pages and free tools, all built into the Laravel application. This website is built the same way.

How an engagement usually works

We start with a technical review of the site and its code, and give you a prioritised list of issues with the likely impact of each. Then we either fix them directly or work with your developers to do so.

Common questions

Do you guarantee rankings?
No. Nobody honest can. We fix the technical problems that stop search engines crawling, understanding and trusting your site, and we explain what we changed and why.
Do you write content or build links?
Our focus is technical: architecture, templates, performance, structured data and internal linking. We can advise on content structure and work alongside your content team or agency.
Can you fix issues ourselves or our agency found in an audit?
Yes. Audit tools are good at listing symptoms. We find the cause in the code and fix it, whether that’s in Laravel, a custom PHP application or WordPress.
Is this relevant for AI search tools?
The same foundations apply: crawlable server-rendered HTML, clear entities and relationships, accurate structured data and original content. We don’t sell shortcuts.
