Who this is for

Businesses and founders who need a Laravel developer they can rely on for the long term: to build something new, to take responsibility for an existing application, or to strengthen a team that’s stretched.

We’ve worked with Laravel since version 4.2 and run our own product, PaidProper, on the current release. That matters because most Laravel problems don’t show up in a demo — they show up in month eighteen, when the queue backs up, the billing edge cases arrive and the framework needs upgrading.

New Laravel applications

For new projects we focus on the decisions that are expensive to change later: the data model, how accounts and permissions work, what runs synchronously and what goes on a queue, and how the application will be deployed and monitored. We keep the frontend as simple as the product allows — often Blade and Livewire rather than a separate JavaScript application.

Existing Laravel applications

If you already have a Laravel application, we can:

• review the codebase and give you a written, prioritised view of its risks;
• upgrade Laravel and PHP versions in safe, incremental steps;
• add tests around the areas that change most or break most often;
• reduce technical debt where it’s slowing down development, not for its own sake;
• take over day-to-day maintenance and feature development.

• Architecture — domain models, service boundaries and structure that a new developer can follow.

• Queues and jobs — Horizon, scheduled commands, retries, idempotency and failure handling.
• Authentication — Fortify-based login, two-factor authentication, passkeys and social sign-in.
• Payments — Stripe and Laravel Cashier subscriptions, team billing and invoicing.
• Testing — Pest and PHPUnit feature tests, plus browser tests where the interface is critical.
• Performance — query analysis, caching, eager loading and moving slow work out of the request.
• Deployment and maintenance — repeatable deploys, monitoring, dependency updates and security patches.

Relevant experience

PaidProper is a Laravel application we design, build and operate: team accounts, quotes and invoices, a client portal, Stripe billing through Cashier, Xero integration and a set of scheduled jobs that send reminders and digests. DoRevision, built by our founder, is a Laravel content platform with thousands of interactive modules. For clients, we’ve built and maintained bespoke Laravel systems, including a volunteer recruitment and training management system that we’ve supported for years.

How an engagement usually works

Most projects start with a conversation and, for existing applications, a short code review. From there we agree a first piece of work with a clear outcome. Longer-term clients usually move to an ongoing arrangement covering maintenance and development. You work directly with David Wright rather than through an account manager.
